ILOILO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided emergency cash transfer assistance totaling more than P7 million to residents affected by the oil slick in Caluya town, Antique province.

DSWD-6 (Western Visayas) Director Carmelo Nochete and DSWD-6 Assistant Regional Director for Operations Arwin Razo led the distribution earlier this week.
A total of 865 families in affected Barangays Alegria, Semirara, and Tinogboc received P8,112 each.
Aside from cash aid, DSWD also distributed relief goods and other non-food items.
During the first week, P3.48-million worth or 6,600 family food packs were turned over to the local government of Caluya.
The DSWD-6 also distributed 95 non-food items for those involved in coastal cleanup such as boots and modular tents amounting to almost P190,000.
The agency also has a cash-for-work program for residents who
rely mostly on fishing and seaweed production which have temporarily stopped due to the oil slick.
