Cignal dumped Army Black Mamba with a 29-27, 25-19, 25-16 sweep to end its elimination campaign on a positive note in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Thursday, March 16, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

The HD Spikers overcame the Lady Troopers’ first-set fightback which lasted 33 minutes before taking control of the ensuing sets to improve 3-5 and bump them up to the sixth place in the standings.

Glaudine Troncoso paved the way for Cignal with 16 points, while Ces Molina and Rachel Daquis contributed 15 and 12, respectively.

Meanwhile, Army, which was kept winless in the season-opening conference, absorbed its 21st straight loss which dates back to the Invitational elimination round in 2022.

Royse Tubino was the lone bright spot for the struggling Lady Troopers with 14 points as they will wrap up their campaign empty-handed once more.

The double-header semifinals will take off on Saturday, March 18, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

All-Filipino defending champion Creamline is set to face fourth-ranked F2 Logistics at 4 p.m. in Game 1 of their best-of-three affair.

In the next play, second seed Petro Gazz tackles No. 3 PLDT in other best-of-three duel at 6 p.m.

Next games will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena.
