7 out of 10 unvaccinated Filipinos still hesitant to get Covid-19 jab — SWS
Three years since the pandemic started, seven out of 10 unvaccinated Filipinos are still skeptical of getting vaccinated against Covid-19, according to a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey conducted in December 2022.
In its nationwide survey from Dec. 10 to 14, 2022, SWS found that 87 percent of adult Filipinos (62.6 million) are vaccinated against Covid-19.
Of those vaccinated, 6 percent (4.4 million) got a first dose, 57 percent (41.4 million) got a second dose or complete dose, 17 percent (12.4 million) got a third dose or first booster, and 6 percent (4.3 million) got a fourth dose or second booster.
Meanwhile, SWS said 13 percent or about 9.5 million Filipino adults are not yet vaccinated.
The respondents were asked, “If you have a chance to be given a free vaccine that can prevent Covid-19 which has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration or FDA, would you surely get the vaccine, probably get the vaccine, undecided if will get the vaccine or not, probably not get the vaccine, or surely not get the vaccine?
Among the unvaccinated, SWS said 69 percent are “unwilling” to be vaccinated against Covid-19, 19 percent are “undecided,” and 12 percent are “willing” to get the jab.
The 4th Quarter 2022 SWS survey was conducted from Dec. 10 to 14 using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults, 18 years old and above, nationwide.
It has a sampling error margin of +/-2.8 percent.
