3 weather systems to bring scattered rain showers over parts of PH
Three weather systems will continue to bring scattered rain showers to some parts of the country in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Thursday, March 16.
The low pressure area (LPA) being monitored by PAGASA in the past few days was estimated 390 kilometers (km) north of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or 125 km east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar around 3 a.m., Thursday.
PAGASA said the weather disturbance has a low chance of becoming a tropical depression but it may bring cloudy weather, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms in Eastern Visayas, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Dinagat Islands.
It warned against possible flooding or landslides, as the LPA may bring moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said that partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers caused by the LPA or localized thunderstorms may prevail in Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and the rest of Visayas and Mindanao.
The public is advised to remain vigilant as severe thunderstorms may also cause flash floods or landslides, especially in areas prone to these hazards.
PAGASA said the rest of Luzon will continue to have partly cloudy to cloudy weather with light rains due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan.”
