P3.8-M shabu seized in Eastern Visayas


TACLOBAN CITY – Police seized suspected shabu valued at P3.8 million in buy-bust operations from March 6 to 12 in Eastern Visayas.

The Police Regional Office 8 Regional Operations Division (ROD) said 23 individuals were arrested in 20 buy-bust operations and 42 cases have been filed against the suspects.

Twenty-one suspects were under the drugs watch list while two others were not listed.

Fourteen of them were 14 street-level individuals and nine were high-value individuals.

Police seized 568.80 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P3,867,808.72.

Among the arrested suspects, Erwin C. Apuya, 40, an HVI and resident of Barangay Naungan, Ormoc City, yielded shabu worth P2.9 million.

PRO 8 Director Brig. Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil reiterated that the police are committed to eradicating illegal drugs in the region.

He cited the intensified campaign of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) called “Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan” (BIDA) program.
