Manila archdiocese to set up 24/7 confession chapel

Published Mar 15, 2023 02:44 am
Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula led the recent groundbreaking rites for the Divine Mercy Chapel for 24/7 Confessions. The 24/7 confession chapel will be constructed at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Minor Seminary Complex along EDSA near the MRT Guadalupe Station for easier access to those who want to avail of the Sacrament of Penance, the archdiocese said. Cardinal Advincula said the project seeks to provide the faithful access to the church anytime they want to go to confession for their spiritual growth. “God has always been waiting for the preeminent moment when a person can feel, can do, and can approach the sacrament of reconciliation.  We envisioned that this can be a place where a person can avail himself of the sacrament of reconciliation anytime,” His Eminence said over Radio Veritas. The confession chapel is open to the public anytime. Spiritual counseling will also be available. The Shrine of St. Joseph of the flight to Egypt will also be constructed at the site as a sanctuary for those who are separated from their families and loved ones because of work. A retirement home for retired and ailing priests will also be set up in the area. “We will continue to implement and introduce programs that will benefit the physical, mental and spiritual life of the public. That is the mission of the Church, to intensify our efforts to reach out particularly to those who are lost and who need help to find their way back to God,” said Cardinal Advincula.
