Wanted person in Las Piñas arrested in manhunt operation

A man wanted by the police for statutory rape and acts of lasciviousness was arrested by members of the Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) of the Las Piñas police in Quezon City on Tuesday, March 14. According to city police chief, Col. Jaime Santos, members of the WSS conducted a manhunt operation for the arrest of the suspect identified as Francis Sarmiento, 33. Sarmiento was tagged as the most wanted person in Las Piñas. Sarmiento was arrested around 1:30 p.m. along Acacia Street, Vista Real Executive Village in Barangay Matandang Balara, Quezon City. Santos said Judge Elizabeth Yu-Guray of the Las Piñas Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 202 issued the warrant of arrest on Sarmiento, who was charged with statutory rape and acts of lasciviousness with a recommended bail of P400,000 for the acts of lasciviousness and no bail for statutory rape. The suspect was detained at the police custodial facility.
