The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced the inauguration of the first segment of the road that will connect the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and South Luzon Expressway before the Holy Week starts in April.
The country will observe the Holy Week next month, starting with Palm Sunday falling on April 2, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday falling on April 6 and 7, respectively.
DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan said the first segment of the road connector from Caloocan to España will be “ready for inauguration anytime soon.”
“We target this, hopefully, before the start of the Holy Week, this segment,” the official said on Tuesday, March 14, during a Palace briefing.
During their meeting with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Bonoan said they had already informed him about the incoming inauguration.
The chief executive met the DPWH officials in Malacañang on Tuesday morning before Bonoan spoke to the media.
The NLEX-SLEX road connector is an elevated expressway that will connect with the Skyway Stage 3 project of San Miguel Corp.
It is one of the two flagship projects that are financed through public-private partnership or PPP.
Apart from this, Bonoan also said the segment of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) is also ready for inauguration before the State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA) of the President in June.
