Cable wire thief arrested in Quezon City


A man was arrested after he allegedly stole over P130,000 worth of cable wires in Novaliches, Quezon City on Tuesday, March 14.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the suspect as Gerald dela Peña, 22, a resident of Brgy. Gulod, Novaliches, Quezon City. 

Police said members of QCPD Novaliches Station (PS 4), who were conducting patrol at Ilalim ng Tulay, Forest Hill Subdvision, Forest Hill Avenue in Barangay Gulod at around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, spotted the suspect and his male cohort cutting PLDT cable wires in the area using saws.

The police officers immediately approached and arrested the suspect. His cohort was able to escape. 

Recovered from the suspect were PLDT copper cable wire P134,028, a 15-inch wood saw, and a 13-inches steel saw. 

Dela Peña will be charged for violation of Republic Act 0515 or the Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet Tapping Act of 2013, police said.

A manhunt operation was launched for the suspect’s cohort.
