Boy dies, woman injured in Quezon fire

INFANTA, Quezon -- A three-year-old boy died while a 49-year old woman was injured when a fire broke out around 2:26 in the morning on Tuesday, March 14, at Purok Rosal in Barangay Tudturan in this town. The Infanta police said the boy (whose name is withheld) died after he was left alone in a room when pandemonium broke out at the onset of the fire. A woman identified as Arlene Jamantoc was injured in the incident, and was brought to the Claro M Recto District Hospital. Her son named Ronnel Jamantoc and three other minors who were sleeping in her house were all unhurt. Based on the statement of Ronnel, the night before the incident he lit a candle in his room before he went to sleep. He was awakened at dawn of the following day by a fire. He ran out of his room together with his minor nephew, but the three-year boy was left behind by Arlene in the room. The fire was declared out at 2:30 in the morning.
