Son arrested for beating mother to death, hiding her body in storage box
A 28-year-old man who allegedly beat his mother to death and placed her inside a plastic storage box was arrested by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Sunday, March 12.
Police identified the victim as Maria Estrella-Villaestique, 67, from Barangay Sagad in Pasig City.
According to a GMA News report, the victim was reported missing for six days in Pasig City. Her body was later found on Saturday, March 11, in a field in Barangay Matictic in Norzagaray, Bulacan.
The results of the autopsy showed that the victim died from blunt traumatic injury to the head, police said.
The suspect, identified as Raymund Villaestique, 28, who reportedly went into hiding for a week, was arrested by NBI operatives after being spotted by his relatives.
The CCTV footage was also recovered by police showing the suspect dragging the plastic storage box containing his mother’s body.
Upon his arrest, the suspect admitted to hitting the victim on the head after a heated argument on March 5. He also showed the police where he dumped the victim’s body in Bulacan.
Relatives of the victim said the mother and son argued about financial matters.
However, in an interview with GMA News, the suspect denied this and said their quarrel stemmed from the constant degrading remarks of his mother to him.
The suspect is facing parricide charges.
