Sampaloc town in Quezon declared insurgency-free

QUEZON -- Sampaloc town in this province has been declared insurgency-free. The Local Government Unit, the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and other stakeholders signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the declaration of Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS) A town or a province is given the SIPS status if no terroristic activity has been done and perpetrated by the New People’s Army for a certain period of time. Based on the monitoring, no incidents of harassment and any terrorist attack were recorded in Sampaloc town in the last 12 months. The MOU was signed on Tuesday, March 14, with Sampaloc becoming the 11th insurgency-free town in Quezon province. The town achieved the status as a result of a concerted efforts of government security forces and Sampaloc LGU since the Executive Order 70 was strictly implemented and efficiently promulgated on optimum law enforcement and collaboration. These efforts resulted in the surrender of former rebels who thus benefited from the positive implication of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP). Town mayo Noel Angelo Devanadera expressed his gratitude not only on the gallant and dedicated forces, but also to the partner agencies and the people of the entire Municipality of Sampaloc for working so hard to achieve the shared dream of safe, secured and communist-free society which are necessary for a town or province to progress. Also commended were the efforts of the Quezon Police Provincial Office in securing the communities from terrorist infiltration and clearing from enemy’s affectation throughout the years. The MOU signing was also attended by provincial and local government officials, barangay officials, religious, youth sectors, and Army officers, The report said that a safe and insurgency-free environment will prevail province-wide as the law keeps its balance. The public will now enjoy a more peaceful and progressive home for the locals, and indeed the most desired destination for investors and foreign tourists, the reports added.
