Petro Gazz eliminates Chery Tiggo, enters semis with PLDT

Petro Gazz downed Chery Tiggo to eliminate them in playoff contention with a 25-17, 28-26, 25-21 sweep in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday, March 14, at the San Agustin Gymnasium in Iloilo City.

The Angels improved their record to 6-2 in the standings to book their semifinals seat while eliminating the Crossovers in the process due to the superior set ratio, which in turn, towed the PLDT HD Spikers into next round along with the Creamline Cool Smashers and the F2 Logistics.

Petro Gazz marked their return to the semifinals as early as  in first over the Chery Tiggo as they held a superior quotient in sets.

As if the beating wasn’t enough, the Angels refused to let the Crossovers recover in the extended second set with a Jonah Sabete crosscourt kill.

In the third, the Angels quickly surged to a 16-8 lead which was enough to pull away despite the Crossovers' resistance.

Chery Tiggo, which  dropped to an even slate of 4-4, won’t be seeing the next round of the tournament despite Cza Carandang’s 16-point outing and Mylene Paat’s 15.

While PLDT (5-2) has another match against Choco Mucho (2-5) on March 16, the HD Spikers are already assured of a playoff seat thanks to the point system.
