Oil spill-hit areas receive over P20-M worth of relief assistance — DSWD
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), local government units, and the private sector have already provided at least P20-million worth of food and non-food items as resource augmentation to areas affected by the oil spill in Oriental Mindoro.
Based on the DSWD report as of March 14, P20-million worth of humanitarian assistance—P18.48 million from DSWD, P321,215 from local government units, P464,940 from non-government organizations, and P755,780 from other DSWD partners—was already distributed to the affected areas in Mimaropa (Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) and Western Visayas.
It also extended 21,000 family food packs in Oriental Mindoro and 6,600 food packs in Antique.

DSWD said the oil spill has affected 31,392 families or 141,988 individuals from 122 barangays in Mimaropa (23,005 households) and Western Visayas (8,387 households). Moreover, it assured that the DSWD has over P2-billion worth of standby funds and stockpile resources readily available for distribution. It has 95,549 family food packs available at its disaster response centers—29,602 packs at the National Resource Operations Center in Pasay City and 65,947 packs at the Visayas Disaster Resource Center in Mandaue City. It has also 104,080 packs available at DSWD field offices in Mimaropa and Western Visayas.
