"Noon pa man, naniniwala na po talaga ako sa lotto kasi dalawang beses na po akong nanalo ng five digits. Madalas naman hindi rin ako nakakataya kasi walang budget pero hindi po ako nawawalan ng pag-asa dahil alam kong may swerte pa ring darating sa atin. At ito na nga po yun. Salamat po (Even then, I really believe in the lottery because I won five digits twice. I often cannot bet because I do not have a budget, but I do not lose hope because I know that luck will still come our way. And this is it. Thank you)," said the 49-year-old winner in a Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) interview.

He used to work as a waiter and dishwasher, but, according to him, the salary did not suffice his needs which was why he resigned to look for another job.

"Pero higit pa sa trabaho ang ibinigay ng Panginoon ngayon (But the Lord gave more than a job)," he said.

The sole winner said that he plans on using his winnings in a business, lot, and helping his relatives.

PCSO advised that the winner claimed his prize at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong City on March 1.

"According to Republic Act No. 1169, winners have one year from the date of the draw to redeem their prizes, otherwise they will be forfeited to form part of the PCSO Charity Fund.

"The general public is reminded that prizes exceeding Php 10.000.00 are subject to a 20% tax under TRAIN LAW," the agency said.
