A father and his son from San Pablo City, Laguna both won the P11.6 million Mega Lotto 6/45 jackpot prize drawn on Feb. 27.

The son revealed in a Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) interview that their lucky digits were "combinations of birth dates and ages of their family members."

Those numbers that my daddy bet on were the dates of our birthdays and my age which is 35)," he said.

Meanwhile, the father said that he bought two lotto tickets with the same combination and gave the other one to his son with the hope of sharing the jackpot prize with him if the numbers ever win.

Paguwi ko sa bahay ibinigay ko sa kanya (pertaining to his son) sabi ko tig-isa tayo kapag tumama hati tayo (I went somewhere in the plaza, I bet at 1 p.m., and then when I returned to my car around 3 p.m. I bet again on the same number. When I got home, I gave it to him; I said let us have one each so we can share if ever we win)," he said.

He was also a firm believer in his horoscope for 2023, which was why he kept on playing the lottery.

My horoscope said that 2023 is the year of abundance for all those born in 1959 and there is a great chance to get rich this year, so I just kept on betting on lotto)," he added.

The father and son winners plan on saving their winnings at the bank in the meantime.

Salamat sa ating Panginoon (Thank you to PCSO, for more than 30 years of betting, you made me a millionaire and now I believe that it is true that someone can win the jackpot, I used to have doubts but here I am now holding the check proving that I won. Thanks to our Lord)," the father said.

PCSO advised on Tuesday, March 14, that the winners claimed their prizes at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong City on Feb. 28.

The agency reminded that prizes exceeding P10,000 are subject to a 20 percent tax per the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Law.

Also, prizes not claimed within one year from the date of the draw shall be considered forfeited.
