BACOLOD CITY - A young journalist died in a motorcycle accident at Crossing Siapo, Barangay Tampi, San Jose, Negros Oriental on Sunday, March 12.
The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) confirmed the death of Pegeen Maisie Sararaña, 24, of Carcar, Cebu, a reporter of Cebu Daily News.

Based on a police report, the victim was on her way home to Cebu that day, when she met with an accident. The victim and her companion were waiting to cross the road, when a truck reportedly overtook another truck, and hit their motorcycle. Both riders were brought to a hospital, but Sararaña passed away on Monday night, March 13. Sararaña was in the province to cover the killing of Governor Roel Degamo and eight others in Pamplona town on March 4.
