Uncle of slain children of OFW: 'Hindi na namin magawang manisi pa'
The family of the four slain children of an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Cavite is overwhelmed with grief as the remains of the children now lie in a memorial chapel in Taysan, Batangas.
On March 9, Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) released a report about the murder of four children in Trece Martires City in the hands of Felimon Pilasangga Escalona, the live-in partner of their mother, who is working as an OFW in Saudi Arabia.
The police identified the victims as Princess Viajan Marie D. Doria, 14 years old; Bianca Rose D. Bisa, 10 years old; Jacky Joy D. Bisa, 8 years old; and Conrado D. Bisa Jr., 6 years old.
Escalona allegedly committed suicide after the crime.
“Puro tahimik pa rin po kami, nagulat nga po kami sa pangyayari na 'yan. Luksa po, talagang luksa po kaming lahat ditong pamilya (We are all quiet, we are still in shock over the turn of events. The whole family is grieving),” Raquin Comia Bisa, uncle of the three youngest victims, told the Manila Bulletin in a phone interview on Monday, March 13.
Bisa said the three children of Virginia Dela Peña and his brother, Conrado, stayed in Taysan from 2015 to 2022. Dela Peña’s oldest child also stayed in the town for about two months in 2022 before her mother decided to take her four children to Cavite.
“Okay naman po ang mga bata dito, kahit pare-parehas kaming naghihirap, hindi naman po sila masasabing napapabayaan (The children were okay here, even though all of us were struggling, you cannot say they were neglected),” Bisa recalled.
Amid their grief, Bisa said there is no use in pointing fingers now that the children are gone.
“Hindi na po namin magawang manisi pa (We cannot blame anyone anymore),” Bisa said.
On Saturday, March 11, Dela Peña arrived from Saudi Arabia to attend her children’s wake.
The interment of the victims is scheduled on Friday, March 17.
