President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. congratulated Filipino Olympian Carlos Edriel Yulo for winning two gold medals at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Series in Baku, Azerbaijan, over the weekend.

In a tweet, the President described Yulo's victory as a "shining moment" as he urged the 23-year-old gymnast to keep making history.

"We celebrate another shining moment in the world of gymnastics with @c_edrielzxs (Yulo) double gold medal victory at the 2023 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Series in Baku, Azerbaijan," he said.

"Congratulations, Carlos, and keep making history!" he added.

On Sunday, March 12, the Tokyo Olympian delivered jaw-dropping performances on his two vaults – a masterful handspring double front pike and a Lopez – to post a 14.933 average for the top honors.

He edged Great Britain's Harry Hepworth, who scored 14.816 for the silver, and Hong Kong's Shek Wai-hung, who registered 14.716 for the bronze.

Yulo's first gold in the sporting event was in parallel bars on Saturday, March 11. He obtained 15.400 points.
