Passi City in Iloilo to strengthen partnership with PBA

ILOILO CITY – The local government of Passi, a component city in Iloilo province, is looking forward to strengthening its partnership with the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

PAUL Lee of Magnolia Hotshots was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2023 PBA All-Star Game hosted by Passi City in Iloilo province over the weekend. (Passi City LGU) “Looking forward to our next partnerships,” said Mayor Stephen Palmares in a statement on Monday, March 13, after the city hosted the 2023 PBA All-Star Weekend from March 11 to 12. “It was a memorable experience,” added Palmares. Basketball fans from all over Iloilo, Iloilo City, and other provinces in Panay Island flocked to Passi City to see their favorite PBA players in the All-Star Game and other side events. It was the second time Passi City hosted the PBA All-Star Weekend. Four years ago in 2018, the city was the host when Undersecretary Jesry Palmares of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) was mayor. The PBA led by Commissioner Willie Marcial conducted several outreach programs in Iloilo. Also present during the PBA-All Star Weekend were Sen. Bong Go, Sen. Francis Tolentino, Iloilo Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., and Iloilo Rep. Ferj Biron.
