JC Cares brings love and support to children at PHC

Spread love to children every day

In celebration of the Heart’s Month, the JC Cares Foundation visited the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) to spread love and support to 100 child patients aged between zero and 15, who underwent heart surgery and had congenital or acquired heart disease.

JC Cares Foundation, a charity organization founded to help those in need, conducted a mini-program for the children. President and CEO Jonathan So and Vice President and CFO Carlito Macadangdang started off the event by giving gifts.

"Meron lang po kaming kaunting tulong na dala-dala para sa inyo. Sana po kahit papaano makatulong at kaunting ginhawa para sa inyo. Maraming maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat.(We brought some gifts, which we hope could help and bring relief to all of you. Thank you, everyone)," Carlito Macadangdang said in his welcome speech.

The young business tycoons and other volunteers visited three wards and the outpatient department of PHC.

"Sa Mga Mommies*, kayo po ang tunay na heroes. Alam naming medyo mahirap, pero nandito po kami para magbigay ng kaunting tulong.* (Mommies, you are the true heroes. We know it’s hard, but we’re here to give a little help.)" So said.

Congenital heart disease (CHD) has consistently been the leading cause of death in the Philippines. According to data from the World Health Organization and healthcare experts, about 20,000 children with CHD are born in the Philippines annually.

GMA artists Ken Chan and Althea Ablan brought much-needed energy to uplift the patients and their loved ones. The event's highlight was Ken Chan's serenade for the kids and Althea Ablan's TikTok dance. These brought smiles and laughter to the children and their families.

The foundation distributed gift packs containing healthy snacks, coloring materials, drawing pads, and bubble toys which can help kids who underwent open-heart surgery with breathing exercises. Jollibee meals were also distributed during the event.
