Michael Cinco brings his 'impalpable dream' to Milan

Michael Cinco is living the life every Filipino designer is dreaming of. Last Feb. 25, 2023, the Dubai-based couturier unveiled his latest collection, which was inspired by the grand Duomo di Milano. “The Duomo di Milano is a symbol of beauty, elegance, and grace. The stunning architecture of the iconic cathedral provides an endless source of inspiration,” Michael tells Manila Bulletin Lifestyle. “The intricate carvings, delicate lacework, and soaring arches of the cathedral offer a wealth of possibilities for a collection that seeks to capture its essence. I wanted to pay tribute to this beautiful place through my pieces to pay homage to this timeless masterpiece of architecture and to help ensure its legacy endures for generations to come.” And that’s what he did. Dubbed “The Impalpable Dream of Duomo Milano,” the collection spotlighted more of his ready-to-wear creation. But still, Michael’s dramatic flair is alive in the collection. The Superstudio 13 in Milan became a hotspot of glamor thanks to his designs. “Notably, this collection differed from previous ones, as it included pre-a-porter pieces that could be effortlessly worn throughout the day and night, for various occasions,” he says. What went down on the runway were pieces in chic black and gray made more dazzling with his Swarovski crystal works. It featured a variety of jackets each one featuring his master tailoring skills and unique embroidery work. Silver garbs adorned with feathers and sequins brought fantasy to the runway. Adding a sense of romance were his dresses in lace and signature mosaic motif. While his oversized coats paired with luxe casual ensembles gave a taste of modernity while demonstrating the spirit of Milan’s dressing attitude. For Michael, presenting his collection during Milan Fashion Week is one of the most cherished moments of his career.
