Last year marked the 25th anniversary of Silvia Venturini Fendi’s iconic bag design for luxury label Fendi—the Baguette. To honor its legacy, the fashion house unveiled its latest collaborations with American jeweler Tiffany & Co., featuring new looks of the beloved arm candy.
First seen on the runways of New York Fashion Week spring-summer 2022 are the Baguettes in Tiffany & Co.'s signature robin's egg blue. The bag is made of leather, croc, and satin, and also comes as nano and pico Baguette charms. Another takes a more opulent turn with sterling silver, enamel, white gold, and diamond finishings.
The latest to grace Fendi's social media feed is an alluring Baguette that pays homage to both luxury brands' roots. The one-of-a-kind masterpiece is made of sterling silver and depicts a floral design---engraved lilies and roses, Italy's national flowers and the emblematic blossom of New York State, respectively. To make it, artisans at the American jeweler’s workshop used the traditional silversmithing technique called "chasing," and took some 250 hours to finish it over four months.
"This creation is exceptional at multiple levels. To begin with, it is part of Fendi’s ambitious ‘hand in hand’ initiative to celebrate local artisans whose expert craft transforms the Baguette into a full-fledged objet d’art," luxury goods conglomerate LVMHsaid. "What’s more, this collaboration is the first ‘hand in hand’ partnership outside Italy, as Fendi teams with a house that boasts its own rich tradition of sublime craftsmanship and shares a commitment to exquisite savoir-faire."
