Here's what every K-drama fan should know about Song Kang

The South Korean actor bonded with his Filipino fans during an event held in Manila.

Filipino fans have been eagerly waiting to meet South Korean actor Song Kang for years. Finally, the moment has arrived. Last March 5, K-drama lovers got together during the “Sweet Home” star’s fan-meet event held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Much to his fans’ delight, the actor participated in interviews and games, designed a shirt for a lucky supporter, and learned more about his fans and Filipino culture. If you weren’t able to be present during the fan meet, here are some of the things Song Kang shared about his life, career, and advice when it comes to achieving your dream.  
Song Kang was inspired to pursue acting at the age of 20 after seeing Leonardo Dicaprio in ‘Titanic’

He went to school with one of the BTS members—that’s Jin!
Song Kang loves mystery novels.

He is a master of the Japanese martial arts Kendo.

He prefers to date women older than him. 

According to him, his most challenging role was Cha Hyun Soo in ‘Sweet Home.’

He is into weight training and very adventurous when it comes to sports. He’s tried tennis and pilates.

He studied ballet for three months for the show ‘Navillera’ and he found learning the turns very challenging. 


His favorite food before is tonkatsu. But now, his diet is mainly focused on consuming vegetables, chicken breasts, and beef.

As for skincare, his routine includes using cleanser, toner, and moisturizer.

He loves his Filipino fans. Toward the end of his fan meet, Song Kang got emotional. His advice to his fans in achieving their dreams is to “see where they gravitate… if you become more adventurous [in] trying different things, you will eventually find the thing that you like. If you put in enough time, it can, eventually, become your dream and you can shine by doing that.”
