Expect fair weather across PH, says PAGASA

A generally fair condition will prevail throughout the Philippines on Sunday, March 12, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA Weather Specialist Grace Castañeda said Filipinos across the country may enjoy a fair weather condition, but she stressed that light rains may still occur, especially in the afternoon or evening, due to the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” and localized thunderstorms.

“The northeast monsoon still prevails. Although its effect has weakened, we will still experience cold weather, especially in parts of Luzon,” Castañeda said in Filipino.

Areas particularly experiencing the effects of the northeast monsoon include Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

“Today, the entire country may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies or generally fair weather condition. But light rains may still occur due to the northeast monsoon as well as localized thunderstorms,” she added.

No tropical cyclone is expected to enter or affect the country in the next 24-hour period. A cloud cluster, however, is being monitored southeast of Mindanao for the possibility that it will develop into a low pressure area (LPA). Once it becomes an LPA, its trough or extension could affect and bring rains in parts of Mindanao.
