Agents of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) officers intercepted a foreigner who attempted to leave the Caticlan Airport in Aklan using a Philippine passport.
Apart from the passport under the name Jansen Tan, the foreigner presented postal card, Philippine PWD ID, Tax Identification Number ID, National Bureau of Investigation clearance, and birth certificate indicating he was born in Sibulan, Santa Cruz, Davao Del Sur to a Filipino mother and a Chinese father.
However, an immigration officer noted that Zhou cannot speak Filipino or any local language during interview.
He was later identified as Zhou Jintao, 24.
Later, he admitted that he is a Chinese citizen, arriving in the country on June 30, 2019.
He is now detained at the BI’s warden facility in Bicutan, Taguig City pending deportation proceedings.
