Rob Deniel

Rob Deniel is the breakout star of 2020 who has been tugging at people's heartstrings with his songs about love. Public reception has shown that the formula works, with a whopping 90 million plus streams on Youtube and Spotify to prove it, most of which came from his monster hit "Ulap." With the release of his latest single "Ang Pag-Ibig" under Vicor Records, young Rob is ready to take our breath away once more. "Ang Pag-Ibig represents the timeless love that I saw in my parents, a contrast from what's happening in my generation where we break up after only one week," the 19-year old artist commented. Rob hastens to add that he's not in love at the moment. But he's definitely attached to his rising career, as well as the family and friends that surround him.As to why he is able to write and sing powerfully about love despite his inexperience, he commented: " I am able to do it because I apply empathy to myself, I get to be observant about people and I look at how they act in their relationships." It helps that Rob is an old soul who admits to being influenced in his sound by the likes of Apo Hiking Society and Rey Valera. Apo, particularly, is a favorite of his aunts and uncles. " Everytime there's a birthday or karaoke night at home, they would request me to sing Apo songs. I guess that's how I was able to adopt the old-school music and style."
"Kapag pinapakinggan mo mga lumang kanta, sobrang timeless nila. Anytime  na patugtugin,naka-capture ang puso mo. Iyan ng kinukuha ko ngayon sa music ko, yung soul ng music before," he noted. (Listening to old songs... they're so timeless. Every time they're played, they capture your heart. This is what I am trying to do with my sound, the soul of the music from before.) Rob revealed that he auditioned for The Voice before but didn't even get a reply back.Destiny beckoned when "Ulap" - which he uploaded on his Tiktok and Youtube - became a viral hit. Getting noticed by Viva Records after that effectively jumpstarted his career. "I really just wanted to be an engineer and work in a company. It turned out to be boring. I realized that making music is my calling. I have found my passion and I am just happy now to be working with Viva," Rob pointed out.
There's a phrase to describe "Ang Pag-Ibig: " it is unmistakably retro. Rob's signature classic pop sound  goes a step further being combined with modern production techniques. He admitted that ever since he signed up with Vicor, he's no longer just creating songs on his phone or in his room. He has access to a whole recording studio with sound engineers. It makes a lot of difference in  his music. Looking forward, Rob revealed that he has a few things on his bucket list right now. One is to mount his first solo concert. Another is to enter the movies. With his good looks he can be an actor, but Rob also pointed out that he can be on the production side  as well because he studies these things in his present multimedia course in college. "I would like to go into acting because I really loved K-dramas like 'Our Beloved Summer.' I can be in a rom-com but I think an action movie would also be cool, even if I just get to play a side character," he mused. Along with the release of the single, the official music video of "Ang Pag-ibig" premiered March 5 in Rob's official Youtube channel. The MV features Karina Bautista as Rob's ladylove and is directed by Chris Kazin. The song is now available on all music streaming platforms.
