Municipal councilor in South Cotabato nabbed for rape

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Police arrested a municipal councilor of Tantangan, South Cotabato for rape and sexual harassment on Friday, March 10. Tantangan police chief Major Randy Apostol said Councilor June Vicente Seneca was arrested by personnel of the General Santos City Police Office at his residence in Bria Homes Subdivision, Barangay San Isidro, this city. Seneca has a standing arrest warrant for rape and sexual assault issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Vicente Pena. Local officials of Tantangan said Seneca will be given his day in court to defend himself as the case was committed in his personal capacity and not in relation to his official function as member of the Sangguniang Bayan. Apostol said Seneca, a three-term councilor, was brought to the Tantangan municipal police station for proper disposition. He stressed the councilor will not be given VIP treatment while under detention.
