Mayor Tiangco inspects construction of new city college building
Navotas City Mayor John Reynald "Johh Rey" Tiangco inspected the construction of a new college building at Navotas Polytechnic College (NPC) in Barangay North Bay Boulevard South (NBBS) Kaunlaran, Navotas City on Saturday, March 11.
The new four-story building is a construction project initiated by former Navotas City Mayor Tobias "Toby" Tiangco in 2021 as part of the NPC renovation program.
It has 28 classrooms, nine laboratories, a library, a gym, study areas, medical and dental clinics, an elevator, a roof deck, a canteen, and outdoor sports and activity spaces.
Mayor Tiangco said that he had consulted the Department of Education (DepEd) regarding the proper dimensions and capacity of each facility in the building to ensure that all NPC students will be catered to.
He said Senators Bong Go and Chiz Escudero helped the local government fund the construction project.
"Aral lang po tayo at kagaya ng sinasabi natin, prayoridad natin ang edukasyon at syempre libre pong mag-aral dito sa Navotas Polytechnic College (Just continue studying and like what we always say, education is our priority that is why it is free to study here at Navotas Polytechnic College)," the mayor added.
NPC was built in 1994 with only 12 faculty members. The city government decided to renovate and expand the building after noticing the growing number of enrollees.
"Sa pagpapaayos po ng ating kolehiyo, hangad natin na maging mas maganda ang overall school experience ng ating mga estudyante at guro, at mas mapataas ang kalidad ng edukasyong ating naibibigay sa kabataang Navoteño (By renovating our college facility, we aim to improve the overall school experience of our students and teachers, and the quality of education we provide to Navoteño youth," the city government added.
The city government aims to complete the construction of the new college building this year.
