Anrealage’s Kunihiko Morinaga presents his clothing innovation at Paris Fashion Week

Today’s designers are definitely pushing the boundaries when it comes to fashion. After witnessing Coperni’s spray-on dress, everyone is talking about Anrealage’s recent show at Paris Fashion Week fall-winter 2023, which presented color-changing garbs with the help of ultraviolet light. *Anrealage’s color-changing garbs (Still from Youtube)* Kunihiko Morinaga, the fashion designer behind the brand, showcased his latest collection at the Théâtre de la Madeleine. Inspired by the Umwelt biological concept, which centers on a being's perception of its environment. the collection featured the photochromic textiles he has been experimenting with for a decade. Morinaga's show started with pairs of models walking side by side wearing all-white spacesuit-like garbs. Intricate quilting, sharp tailoring, oversized silhouettes, and modern layering added character to looks paired with stylized head caps. After the white parade, the pairs went back to the stage. Two UV lights were lowered as if screening the garment. And as their light passed looks, it revealed the colors and patterns the Japanese design hid on the piece. White suits became printed ensembles barring the label's logo, trench coats revealed their pastel plaids, and dress coats came to life with polka dots, among others. As expected, the audience gasped and applauded every transformation they saw on the runway. While Morinaga has been exploring the material in the past years, it was his first time using his clothing technology on textiles such as velvet, lace, knits, jacquards, and satins. His can present different hues when worn outside as they depend on the UV in sunlight. Watch Anrealage's fall-winter 2023-2024 show below:
