CEBU CITY – A man robbed a rural bank of close to P1 million cash in broad daylight in Toledo City, western Cebu on Thursday, March 9.
The Rural Bank of Barili on Hinulawan St. in Barangay Poblacion was robbed at around 9:50 a.m., said Lt. Col. Dennis Castillo de Guzman, chief of the Toledo City police.
Security camera footage showed that the bank’s lone security guard and personnel were inside when the suspect, who was clad in a red jacket and face was covered with a cloth, casually entered.
The robber pulled out a hand gun and pointed it at the bank employee sitting near the door.
The security guard, who was standing near the bank employee, did not resist and put his shotgun on the floor.
The robber then directed the bank employee to the counter and ordered him and the security guard to drop to the floor as he waited for the other bank employee to hand him over the cash.
Police said he took at least P800,000 and fled on a motorcycle.
Further investigation will be conducted for the possible identification and arrest of the robber.
Police will also investigate if the perpetrator had an accomplice.
