Fake doctor, cohort nabbed in Pasay City

A Chinese national pretending to be a medical doctor and his cohort were arrested by members of the Southern Police District- Special Operations Unit (SPD-SOU) after a complaint was filed against them in Pasay City on Friday, March 10.

SPD director Brig. Gen. Kirby John Brion Kraft identified the suspects as Yang Yongsheng, alias "Yi Sheng Yang”, 53, and Liu Yong, 49.

Kraft said the suspects were arrested around 3:30 p.m. at a tower condominium on Metrobank Avenue in Pasay City.

The SPD chief said the suspects were arrested after a complaint was filed against them by Zheng Haohan, 26, who had a medical check-up with the suspect due to stomachache and diarrhea.

Haohan claimed that he was given Chinese medicines by Yang Yongsheng after his check-up. He was also told to return to undergo a surgical operation after the suspect reportedly found an ailment in his private parts.

Following the complaint, the police conducted an operation and arrested Yang Yongsheng for failing to present to the authorities his license to practice as a medical practitioner.

Kraft said the suspects were detained at the SPD custodial facility.

They are facing charges for violation of Section 12, Article II of Republic Act No. 2382 (Medical Act of 1959), and Republic Act No. 9711 (Food and Drug Administration [FDA] Act of 2009).
