LA Tenorio’s record for the longest consecutive games played in the PBA came to an end Wednesday night, March 1, after the decorated playmaker missed the Barangay Ginebra-Meralco tussle at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Tenorio was absent from the Kings’ bench after reportedly suffering from a groin injury, snapping his impressive league record of 744 games played or since being selected as the No. 4 overall by San Miguel Beer in the 2006 Draft.
Ginebra coach Tim Cone said the team trainer ruled that Tenorio could miss four to six weeks because of the injury.
With the development, the longest active streak for consecutive games played in the league now comes from Mark Barroca with 538 games so far.
Barroca hasn’t missed a game since being the No. 5 overall pick in the 2011 Draft by Shopinas.
