Seven alleged criminal gang members nabbed, firearms, grenades seized in Laguna police operations


KAMPO HENERAL PACIANO RIZAL, Sta. Cruz, Laguna- Seven alleged members of a criminal gang were arrested in separate operations conducted by the Special Operations Unit of Laguna Provincial Police Office against loose firearms on Feb. 4 and Feb. 5 in Sta Maria town, a belated report said on Wednesday, Feb. 9.

Police Colonel Randy Glenn G. Silvio, acting provincial director of Laguna PPO, identified the suspects as Rogelio, Edick, Randy, Cervacio, Rio, Nestor and Rolando.

Confiscated in separate operations were five caliber .45, four caliber .38 revolvers and two hand grenades.

The seven suspects – six of them now detained at the custodial facilities of the Laguna Provincial Police Office and the other one in Sta. Maria Municipal Police Stations – have already been charged for violation of R.A. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), R.A. 9516 (Laws on Illegal/Unlawful Possession, manufacture, Dealing in, Acquisition or Disposition of Firearms, Ammunition or Explosives....), and obstruction of justice.

"With the cooperation of our community in our police, these operations can be implemented successfully and properly, so I encourage our community to strengthen our organization for more effective implementation toward achieving peace and order in the province of Laguna," said Col. Silvio.
