ILOILO CITY – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Western Visayas was awarded for its drug reduction program for the year 2022 recently.

PDEA-6 was named the Best Giga Region in Category 3 for garnering the highest premium points in the reduction of drug supply and demand.
The citation covered PDEA’s work in the region composed of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental as well as the highly urbanized cities of Iloilo and Bacolod.
PDEA-6 topped the Zamboanga Peninsula, Soccsksargen, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
The award was received by PDEA-6 acting Regional Director Melvin Estoque but the accomplishment was made during the tenure of PDEA-6 Director Alex Tablate.
It was under Tablate’s helm that 89 percent of barangays in Western Visayas were declared drug-free by the end of 2022.
Under Estoque’s leadership, PDEA-6 wants to maintain its good accomplishment in the Barangay Drug Clearing Program (BDCP).
