The Parañaque city government conducted a drum and lyre band competition as part of the activities lined up for its 25th cityhood anniversary.
Mayor Eric Olivarez said the competition was held at the activity center of Ayala Malls, Manila Bay located along Aseana Avenue, Barangay Tambo, Parañaque on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
Olivarez said the competition was participated in by four drum and lyre bands. They were the Dr. Arcadio Santos Band; Baclaran Community Band, San Dionisio Community Band, and the Parañaque National High School Main Band.
He said the four contestants in the competition were given awards after their performance.
The mayor said the Baclaran Community Band was chosen as the grand champion in the competition and was also selected as the best color band and best in drumline.
Olivarez said his brother,1st District Congressman Edwin Olivarez, gave the award to the Baclaran Community Band for winning the competition.
He said the Dr. Arcadio Santos Band landed in the at 4th place, Parañaque National High School Main Band in the 3rd place, and the San Dionisio Community Band, which also won as the Best in Uniform, in 2nd place.
