
BUTUAN CITY – Police unearthed New People’s Army Improvised Explosive Devices and food supplies in a mountainous area in Purok 1, Barangay Taligaman, here on Monday, Feb. 6.
Police Regional Office (PRO)-13 (Northeastern Mindanao) director Brig. Gen. Pablo G. Labra II said information provided by a concerned citizen led to their discovery.
“The report of a concerned village folk resulted in the recovery and unearthing of these powerful bombs including Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and food supplies of the CTG on Monday, Feb. 6,” Labra said.
Police found an improvised claymore mine, improvised cylindrical pipe bomb, wires, and containers filled with rice.
The PRO 13 Regional Intelligence Division (RID) said the Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda 21C, weakened Guerilla Front 21, Sub-Regional Command Westland, of the Communist Party of the Philippines-NPA Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) under the command of alias “Dindo” or ‘’Kadoy” operates in the area.
Labra thanked the citizen for the information.
“Caraga cops would like to express our appreciation for the informant's assistance in the recovery of the dangerous explosives,” Labra said.
“This feat is another clear proof that the partnership between the police and the community will always yield a positive result, thereby contributing to our unified goal of attaining peace and order in the region.”
