BACOLOD CITY - An elderly woman was hacked to death by her 17-year-old grandson in Barangay Buluangan, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, Feb. 8.
Police identified the victim as Angelina Escorial, 78.
Captain Ruby Aurita, spokesperson of San Carlos City Police Station, said the victim reprimanded her grandson when she saw him hurting her dog with a bamboo pole.
The suspect, however, got angry and allegedly attacked the victim, who succumbed to multiple hack wounds, Aurita said.
Prior to that, the suspect had a few drinks at their neighbor's house.
When he went to the victim's house, he was irked when the dog barked at him.
The suspect, whose father is a nephew of the victim, surrendered to the authorities.
The victim's family has yet to decide whether to pursue a case or not, according to Aurita.
