P20-M municipal gov't-owned food park opens in Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte

KAUSWAGAN, Lanao del Norte – Mayor Rommel Arnado launched the two-hectare Fisherman's Wharf Food Park and Entertainment Center owned by the municipal government at Bliss, Kawit Oriental, here on Saturday, Feb. 4.
Arnado said Kawit Oriental was a war-torn area in the 1980s. Fast-forward four decades later, he said, through the efforts of the local government, the area was developed to become economic booster and influencer for Northern Mindanao or Region 10.
Arnado said they promote good governance and transparency by creating projects that are income-generating and make the town and province a tourism destination.
"This is one of our innovations for Kauswagan, we are very proud of this, this is one thing that we really want to do for a long time," he said.
The P20-million food park was built in six months using local funds and features different cuisine from 13 tenants.
Adelino Rico, a tenant who operates a restaurant, cited Arnado for transforming the area which before was neglected and of no use.
Livah Mae Balagon of Barangay Tacub here who went home for good after living for 17 years in Cavite said the municipality has achieved progress and thanked the local government for bringing development. She hopes that progress will be sustained and more projects will be implemented.
