Extortionist posing as NPA member nabbed in entrapment operation in Nueva Ecija

NUEVA ECIJA – A man who tried to extort money from a farmer by pretending to be a member of the New People’s Army was arrested during an entrapment operation in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija on Tuesday, Feb. 7.

Nueva Ecija Police Office director Colonel Richard V Caballero said that John (not his real name), a duck grower, and a resident of Barangay Mallorca, San Leonardo reported to San Leonardo Police that a male caller who identified himself as alias Josh introduced himself as New People’s Army.

According to the police, John told them that the caller was threatening his life and his livelihood if he would not give money.

Entrapment operation was readily set up which resulted in the arrest of the suspect after the victim handed him P30,000.

The suspect who is now under the custody of San Leonardo PS will be facing a case for Robbery Extortion.

Meanwhile, Col Caballero encouraged the people in the community to be vigilant in this kind of modus, and report to the nearest police station if there’s such a similar modus for immediate police action.
