Dagupan strictly implementing anti-drunk driving law

DAGUPAN CITY – The city government is strictly implementing Republic Act No. 10586 or the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013.

Mayor Belen Fernandez, in a meeting on Monday, Feb. 6, told city police chief Lt. Col. Vicente Castor Jr., City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) chief Ronald de Guzman, and Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) chief Arvin Decano, to penalize individuals driving under the influence of liquor or dangerous drugs.

Traffic enforcers will use a breathalyzer device to determine if a motorist is positive for alcohol.

The breathalyzer is a portable device used to determine the amount of alcohol in the system of persons suspected of being intoxicated or to detect the presence of infection or disease.

Castor said that the law must be carried out without hesitation to prevent road mishaps as a result of drunk and or drugged driving.

A minor was reportedly killed in an accident here due to an intoxicated driver.
