The city government of Parañaque conducted a medical caravan in line with the celebration of the 25th cityhood anniversary on Feb. 13.
Mayor Eric Olivarez said the medical caravan was held at Silverio compound basketball court in Barangay Silverio on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
Olivarez said the caravan offered several medical services such as dental checkup, distribution of optical reading glass and medicines, and blood pressure reading.
He said orientation on PhilHealth benefits was also conducted during the caravan.
The mayor, who is a registered nurse, joined in blood pressure reading of senior residents.
Olivarez said aside from medical caravan, the city government also prepared non-medical services like giving shots of anti-rabies to pets led by the Veterinary Services Offices and free haircut from the Livelihood Resource Management Office, Project E.R.I. C.
He said the Anti-Drug Abuse Office also conducted orientation on the harmful effect of illegal drug use.
The mayor’s wife, Aileen Olivarez, who joined the activity offered a short storytelling about the importance of managing health by eating Pinggang Pinoy, a new simple visual food guide that uses a familiar food plate model to convey the right food group on a per-meal basis and exercise.
The residents were also served with popcorn, hotdogs and porridge during the caravan.
