Salceda endorses Co as successor in 2025

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – Rep. Joey Salceda has formally endorsed Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co as his successor as congressman of the second district of Albay in the 2025 mid-term elections.

Salceda, in an interview during the distribution of cash aid and foods packs to residents affected by bad weather in Barangay Dapdap, Batan Island, Rapu-Rapu, Albay over the weekend, said that endorsing Co as his successor is the right decision.

"Kasi siya ang No. 1, ako ang No. 2, hindi kaya it is the best interest of Albay na ‘yung No. 1 at No. 2 mag-usap lagi. So dahil sa lagi naman kaming naguusap, we might as well na magkaroon ng alliance for second district (He is No. 1, I am No. 2. It is in the best interest of Albay that the No. 1 and No. 2 communicate regularly. Because we regularly talk, we might as well have an alliance in the second district)," Salceda said.

"Endorsement? Yes. I am endorsing Zaldy Co in the second district. It is the most rightly scenario for 2025," he added.

Salceda is on his third and last term while Co is on his first term. Salceda and Co are from the second district of Albay.

Co is the chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations while Salceda is the chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means.

Among the prominent personalities who have interest in Salceda’s post are Camalig, Mayor Carlos Irwin Baldo and businessman Carlos Loria.
