Pasig LGU logs higher capital investment, business transactions in Jan. 2023

Pasig City is off to a good start in 2023 as the local government recorded higher capital investments and more business transactions during the business processing season in January, 2023.

In a tweet on Sunday, Feb. 5, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto shared the results of the local government's business transaction report as of Jan. 31.

There were 916 new transactions recorded in 2022, and 362 beginning in 2023.

There was a 3,000 increase in renewal transactions, with 21,523 in 2023 compared to 18,523 in 2022.

Meanwhile, 328 businesses have filed for retirement in 2023, which is 162 higher than the 166 logged in 2022.

A huge increase of up to 15,692.27 percent was seen in the local government's capital investment report in 2023 as of Jan. 31. The total capital investment was P134,297,500.00 in 2022, and P21,208,621,032.95 in 2023.

The local government set up a Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) site at the Pasig Sports Center, aside from the BOSS sites at the Ayala 30th and Manggahan Annex to fully accommodate all business owners for the season.

The BOSS at the sports center was inspected by officials from the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) last Jan. 24.

The local government also extended the deadline of business transactions period to Jan. 31, in accordance with Resolution No. 9-11, Series of 2023.

It also offered a five percent discount for those who paid their annual business taxes until Jan. 20, referencing the Revised 2017 Pasig Revenue Code.

In the same post, Sotto also shared the Instagram story of Atty. Diego Santiago from the Office of the City Administrator and the Local Economic Development and Investment Office (LEDIO) who was involved in the planning and organization of the BOSS.

According to Santiago, business processing has improved this year since taxpayer clients only took two to three hours to complete the processing compared to the six to eight hours in previous years.

He cited the launch of the business status online portal which "helped in saving time and alerting taxpayers to their deficiencies so they could settle the same and not incur further penalties."

The portal was set up for companies to more easily check the status of their documents before going to the actual BOSS site.

Santiago also noted that no fixers were reported for the second consecutive year at the BOSS site.
