OVP responds to plea for help of Agusan del Sur twins with bone defect

Twins Marvy and Marvin, 13, had normal bodies when they were first born. While they were growing up, they started showing deformities.

Their father Benny was left no choice, but to seek medical attention so they could live a normal life again.

It was about that time that he was also struggling with his twins’ medical needs— financially, mentally, and emotionally.

Benny said the twins recently finished Grade 6, but they were unable to attend the graduation rites because of their 38-year-old mother who died of Peptic Ulcer Disease.

They were never medically examined, Benny said, due to the family’s financial problems, prompting him to reach out to the Office of the Vice President (OVP).

A statement from the OVP said the twins’ sought the help of its Surigao Satellite Office, seeking medical assistance, wheelchairs, and education support.

OVP Surigao Satellite representatives visited the twins, who are from Rosario, Agusan del Sir.

They were provided with financial aid, food packs, medicines and vitamins, according to the OVP.

Apart from this, the twins’ family also received P5,000 as burial assistance for the twins’ deceased mother, it added.

The medical and burial assistance program is the OVP’s banner social services, which Vice President Sara Duterte intends to expand through its satellite offices to make them more accessible to Filipinos.

The OVP has seven existing satellite offices in Bacolod, Surigao del Sur, Cebu, Davao, Tacloban, Dagupan, and Zamboanga.

Its central office is housed at the Robinsons Cybergate Plaza in Mandaluyong City.
