OTS vows probe into 'unprofessional' filming of ENHYPEN's departure screening at NAIA
The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) vowed on Monday, Feb. 6, to look into the lapses allegedly committed by some of its personnel for taking videos of the popular Korean group ENHYPEN during the conduct of security screening procedures for their departure at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
The video went viral on social media, and netizens called out the security personnel for violation of the privacy of the group.
In a statement, the OTS described the "unwarranted filming" as unprofessional behavior.
"The management is currently investigating the matter to determine the extent of violation committed based on existing rules and security screening protocols if any, and impose appropriate administrative sanctions, should it be necessary," the statement read.
ENHYPEN held a three-day concert in the country as part of its “Manifesto” tour held in 13 cities in South Korea, US, Japan, Thailand and the Philippines for a total of 22 shows.
All the tickets for the Feb. 3-5 concert in the Philippines were sold out and the Manila Bulletin reported: "Filipino fans, known for their passionate cheers among K-pop artists, made an impression on ENHYPEN as they screamed nonstop from the moment the group emerged on stage until the show was finished."
The OTS said that while it understands the expected reasons of its personnel in filming the departure screening procedures, doing so is a violation of its protocol.
"While we understand the excitement brought about by the presence of these Korean artists, we remind not only our personnel, but all airport users, that unauthorized filming at our security screening checkpoints is not allowed as a matter of policy," the OTS statement read.
"Rest assured that the OTS shall never tolerate any unprofessional behavior towards the riding public," it added.
