Facilitated SIM Registration to continue in 14 remote areas this week


To combat the anticipated “lull” in Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card registration and to help struggling Filipinos comply with the law, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) will conduct another set of facilitated registration in selected remote areas this week.

With the help of local government units (LGUs), NTC will be mounting facilitated SIM Registration booths in 14 remote areas until Friday, Feb. 10.

In an official list sent to the media, NTC said the initiative will begin in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro on Tuesday, Feb. 7. This will be followed by a facilitated SIM Registration in Magpet, Cotabato on Wednesday, Feb. 8.

On the third day – Thursday, Feb. 9 – residents of the following areas may benefit from the said initiative: Bauang, La Union; Echague, Isabela; San Simon, Pampanga; Agoncillo, Batangas; Libmanan, Camarines Sur; Abuyog, Leyte; Salay, Misamis Oriental; La Paz, Agusan Del Sur; and Bauko, Mountain Province.

According to NTC, the last day of assisted registration for this week will be held in Pandan, Antique; Bogo, Cebu; and Padada, Davao Del Sur.

Individuals who are interested to avail these services were instructed to bring their mobile phones with their SIMs to be registered. Apart from these, they were also told to bring a government-issued identification card.
