TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Region 8 (Eastern Visayas) is set to implement road projects worth a total of P350 million in Eastern Samar this year.
Among these is the two-contract project in Barangay Magsaysay-Barangay Magongbong-Barangay Gap-ang in the municipality of Dolores and the Dolores-Maslog Road funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2022 with a total length of 5.84 kilometers.
Eastern Samar District Engineering Office Assistant District Engineer Domcelio Natividad said that the first project is the concreting of the Dolores-Maslog Road.
Construction started on Dec. 21, 2022 and is expected to be completed on Oct. 16, 2023 by the joint venture of Pablo S. Labasbas Construction Inc. and AICON Industries.
The other project is the construction of the Junction National Road in Barangay Magsaysay-Magongbong-Gap-ang that started on Jan. 4 and is expected to be completed on Dec. 29 by the joint venture of B. Vicencio Builders Inc. and JGO Builders.
Dario Davila, a farmer from Barangay Cagtabon in Dolores, said that the completion of the project will be a big help to him and his fellow farmers in transporting their farm products to the town proper.
“If this project will be realized, the residents along the upstream barangays will greatly benefit from this because most of our residents here are farmers,” Davila said.
He added that it will also be a big relief for students studying in the town proper and residents that encounter health emergencies.
