The construction industry is expected to help solve the issue of unemployment in the country, an official of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Monday, Feb. 6.
DPWH Senior Undersecretary Emil Sadain, who also heads the over 100,000 strong Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE), made the assessment after administering the oath taking of 79 new members of the civil engineering organization in Zamboanga City.
“Graduates of civil engineering from Western Mindanao and other provinces who successfully passed the recent licensure examination have joined the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc. (PICE), among the Philippines biggest accredited professional organization, through the Zamboanga City Chapter,’’ the DPWH said.
The group of engineers has over 100 local chapters in the Philippines and 13 international chapters worldwide.
Sadain noted that brighter and bigger opportunities are about to unfold to the new civil engineers as more infrastructure projects will continue to be rolled-out across the country.
