BOC seizes nearly P2.5M worth of shabu hidden inside 3 parcels

Joint intelligence operatives of the Bureau of Customs and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) have intercepted almost P2.5 million worth of shabu in three parcels that arrived in the country from three countries.

BOC Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz said the parcels containing then illegal drugs was discovered at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC), Pair Cargo, and DHL Warehouse in Pasay City.

"A physical examination of the parcels verified the presence of six plastic pouches of candies and one vape cartridge containing the illegal drugs. Authorized personnel turned over the illicit drugs to the PDEA for proper disposition," said Ruiz.

Among those discovered hidden in the parcel were THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), 1.020 kg of Ecstasy, and 106.46 gm of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) with a total estimated value of P2.476 million.

Ruiz said parcels originated from the United States, France, and Pakistan. They were shipped to consignees in Negros Occidental, Makati City, and Camarines Sur.

"Further investigation is underway to arrest those behind the illicit trade," said Ruiz.
